The reason I believe that Bitcoin has a massive future and will likely never die is that it remains the most secure means of value transfer ever in history and the hash rate backs that up. Also, being the first mover in this new asset class where you can program revisions to the protocol make it very resistant to death as even some black swan catastrophic event can be revised or forked.
